Forestry

Public Works is responsible for maintaining well over one thousand parkway trees lining twenty two miles of Village of Berkeley streets. That maintenance includes but is not exclusive to scheduled trimmings, removal of damaged and dangerous trees and limbs, tree planting and replacement of removed trees, and scheduled brush pick-up from April through November each year. The Department is also responsible for emergency clearance of downed limbs and trees due to storm damage. Any parkway tree suffering major damage due to violent storms should be reported to the Public Works Department immediately at 708-449-8840, as well as any parkway tree that either block the public right of way or pose a potential danger to pedestrians or motorists.
