The Village of Berkeley purchases its water from the City of Chicago. From Chicago, the water travels through Melrose Park and finally through the Hillside-Berkeley Water Commission to the residents of Berkeley. Thus, the periodic increases in the Village’s water rates are directly impacted by rate increases imposed by these two organizations. The approved increases are as follows:
Water and Sewer Billing
As of May 1, 2017 (starting with bills going out approximately May 31, 2017) water rates for users under 7M gallons per month is $13.25 per month and $10.05 per 1000 gallons used.
Sewer rates as of May 1, 2017 (starting with bills going out approximately May 31, 2017) for users under 7M gallons per month are $7.75 per month plus $1.39 per 1000 gallons of water used. Rates are increased as the Village’s costs of service increase. The last time sewer rates were adjusted was 2011.
